Teen Pedestrian Left Critically Hurt After Car Loses Control on Sunrise Service Road in Bay Shore

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a teenage pedestrian in Bay Shore last night.
 
Segundo Guaman was driving westbound on the North Sunrise Service Road, when he lost control of his vehicle, which left the roadway, and struck James Amaya, who was walking on the side of the roadway near Atlantic Avenue at 6:35 p.m.
 
Amaya, 16, of Bay Shore, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries. Guaman, 69, of Brentwood, was not injured.
 
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
