Suffolk County Police have arrested a man after he fatally stabbed his estranged wife and then stabbed himself at their home in Farmingville last night.
Sixth Precinct officers responded to 144 Granny Road after a 911 caller reported a domestic incident at 8:15 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Adriana Barbosa and Marcos Marques-Leal with stab wounds. A teenage child relative, who was in the home at the time of the incident, also suffered injuries during the attack.
Adriana Barbosa, 46, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The child was also transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Marcos Marques-Leal 57, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Homicide Squad detectives charged Leal with Murder 2nd Degree, Criminal Contempt 1st Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Leal will be arraigned at a later date.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
