Shelter Pet of the Week – Meet Lady Rebecca

Written by Lyndsay McCabe  |  15. February 2014

In our first installment of Shelter Pet of the Week, we present you with Lady Rebecca, an adoptable pooch at Save-a-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center in Port Jefferson Station. Lady Rebecca is a 4 or 5 year old pit bull mix with a short white and brown coat.  She’s medium-size, or, as staff members say, she is “75 lbs of love,” and she has been waiting a while for her forever home.

Lady Rebecca had a tough start, as she was diagnosed with mast cell cancer. Since then, her tumor was biopsied, and she is considered cancer-free.  Mast cell tumors are relatively common in dogs, and also have a positive prognosis.  Now, she has spent more than enough time waiting for her forever home, and she has a lifetime to spend with a family that can provide her with love and comfort.  As one can tell from her inquisitive face, she wants nothing more than to meet the owner that will give her a warm bed and belly rubs.

This young dog is spayed and up-to-date with all of her routine shots, and all that is left is for her to go right to a loving home.  She would do best in a home without other dogs or cats.

If you are interested in adopting Lady Rebecca or another dog or cat at Save-a-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center, call (631) 473-6333, or fill out their online application.
