One Dead and Three Injured in Glen Cove Crash

Diana Pereyra was pronounced dead at the scene of a horrific car accident in Glen Cove. The accident occurred just prior to 11:30pm Thursday night when Pereyra’s car collided with a concrete wall. Her three passangers were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries. One passanger suffered brain injuries and is in critical condition. Nassau County police report that Pereyra was driving on Sea Cliff Avenue when the car left the road, the concrete wall and a utility pole before coming to a rest on the driver’s side. The cause of the accident has yet to be determined.

Postal Workers Steal $4K from LI Post Offices

There United States postal workers have been accused in separate instances of pocketing a combined $4,000 from their Post Office jobs over the course of the last two years. Harold Gutierrez, 49, of Uniondale, 56-year-old Roosevelt woman, Rita Haynes, and 45-year-old Lisa Jimenez of the Bronx were arrested on Thursday and charged with grand larceny and falsifying business records. In addition to these charges, Gutierrez is also being charged with criminal possession of stolen property. United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General uncovered the allegations and referred the case to the district attorney’s office for prosecution. All three criminals face up to four years in prison if convicted.

Man Arrested for Inappropriately Touching Teens Feet

A quick thinking teen snapped a picture using her cell phone of a man grabbing her feet as she and friends played in a swing set. Carlos Sanchez, of Massapequa, was arrested Thursday following an incident at Lincoln Street Park in Massapequa where Sanchez began touching a 16-year-old’s foot and wouldn’t let go when she attempted to pull away from him. He fled the scene in a tan colored car. Sanchez is charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. There have been several reports of him approaching young teenage girls and touching their feet inappropriately and offered to give them foot massages.

Shot Cop Set to Leave the Hospital

After being shot in the head at point-blank range, a 28-year-old NYPD officer is set to leave the hospital and return home to his family. Officer Kevin Brenna received the injury during a struggle with a suspect in Brooklyn on January 31. The bullet, fired from suspect Luis Ortiz’s gun, was lodged against his skull. Ortiz has since been arrested and indicted on charges of attempted murder. Everyone has been shocked by Brenna’s speedy recovery according to officer’s sister. He will continue his rehabilitation at an outpatient facility near his Garden City Park home.
