Coram Woman Charged With DWI After Early-Morning Head-On Crash With Snowplow Leaves Her Seriously Injured

A 25-year-old Coram woman was seriously injured and charged with DWI after crashing head-on into a snowplow on Middle Country Road early Monday morning.

Suffolk County Police today arrested a Coram woman for driving while intoxicated after she crashed her vehicle into a snowplow and was seriously injured.
 
Erika Jackson was driving 2013 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on Middle Country Road in Middle Island when her vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane in front of 140 Middle Country Road and struck an eastbound New York State DOT snowplow at approximately 5:20 a.m.
 
Jackson, 25, of Coram, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. She was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and will be arraigned at a later date.
 
The driver of the snowplow, Victor Rivera, 42, of Mastic Beach, was transported to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Patchogue for treatment of minor  injuries.
 
The Chevrolet was impounded for a safety check. The snowplow was inspected at the scene by Motor Carrier Safety Section officers.
 
Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
