The Major Case Squad reports on the arrest of a Hempstead man for a Robbery that occurred on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 11:53 AM in Hempstead.
 
According to Detectives, a male subject walked into a Wells Fargo bank located at 145 Fulton Avenue and approached the bank teller, a 78-year-old female.
 
The subject demanded money from the victim with his hand in his pocket simulating that he may have a weapon. The victim, in fear for her life gave the subject approximately $2,000 before he fled the scene in an unknown direction.
 
No injuries were reported at scene. After a thorough investigation, defendant Lashawn Mills, 38, of was identified and placed under arrest without incident.
 
Defendant Lashawn Mills is charged with Robbery 2nd degree and will be arraigned on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
