Written by Brooke Hein  |  07. February 2020

Valentine’s Day is a wonderful chance to show your sweetheart just how much they mean to you. Why not go the extra mile by having your wedding day on this special holiday? It will be a great way to celebrate your love for one another each year and it will be quite easy for everyone to remember your anniversary date!

A Valentine’s Day themed wedding features tons of red and pink colors along with beautiful roses and cute decor. If you’re looking to start your planning, you’re in the perfect place. Check out these sweet ideas that will make your big day the ideal Valentine’s celebration!

Guest Book
Have each guest write a sweet wish on a heart cut out then place inside a book or onto a board that you can use as decor in your home. This is a unique way to receive wishes from friends and family and will be a great way to look back on a special evening!

Centerpieces
When it comes to the centerpieces, you can keep it as effortless or as extravagant as you’d like. If you’re looking for something simple and sweet, stick some roses inside a mason jar or vase and surround them with candles. You can even fill up the jar and stick the roses inside, making them float around inside. The candles will light the table just enough and will create a romantic atmosphere. To create something more outside-the-box, arrange some small flowers in the shape of a heart at the center of the table. You can then place candles on the inside of the heart, or you can leave it with just the floral arrangement. This is a neat idea that will represent your Valentine’s Day theme perfectly!

Decor
Fill the celebration with roses and red, creating a Valentine’s Day ambience for you and your guests. Set up a backdrop of hanging hearts that everyone can take pictures in front of, this will not only make for some unique decor, but is a nice alternative to a photobooth and props can still be used! Some fun prop ideas that will go well with your theme include cupid bow and arrows, hats, red and pink balloons and big kissy lips that your friends can fool around with in photos!

Desserts
One of the many great things about Valentine's Day is that you can make some delicious desserts that symbolize the holiday wonderfully. Why not have a dessert table set up with a variety of after-dinner sweets that your guests can indulge in? Pick from one of these ideas or have them all!

  • Red velvet cupcakes topped with a cherry
  • Heart shaped rice krispie treats
  • Chocolate covered strawberries
  • Strawberry cake pops
  • Cheesecake with desired toppings
  • Heart shaped churros with caramel dip
  • Strawberry shortcake

Cocktails
A cocktail station for the adults is a fun idea that they will absolutely love. Make the station look the part by decorating it with lots of hearts and red balloons, complete with signature Valentine's Day cocktails that will have your guests coming back for more! Here are some drink ideas they are sure to love:

  • Red apple sangria
  • Shirley temple (alcoholic & non-alcoholic for the kiddies!)
  • Chocolate martini with a cherry on top
  • Raspberry champagne
  • Strawberry daiquiri
  • Heart shaped jello shots
  • Strawberry pina colada
Favors
Send your guests home with a little Valentine’s Day treat to thank them for sharing your special day with you. Put tiny heart treats in a mini baggie and wrap with a ribbon that is personalized with your last name and wedding date. Another cute idea is to give out candy kabobs on a stick, wrapped in cellophane. You can then attach a red or pink ribbon with the wedding information on it.

These helpful suggestions are sure to make your planning process a bit smoother. When all else fails, utilize the popular Valentine's Day colors, roses and plenty of hearts to carry your theme all throughout!
