Man Shot Dead in Huntington Station

A Huntington Station resident, Michael Fredericks, 26, was pronounced dead at Huntington Hospital on Saturday after being shot in the head outside of the Los Campos Deli on Depot Road. The incident took place around 10pm. No arrested have been made in connection with the incident but authorities ask anyone with information to call (631) 852-6392 or 1-800-220-TIPS. Swerving Driver was High Despite Interlock Device

Suffolk County police stopped a man who was seen swerving as de drove on Country Rouad 19 in Holbrook on Thursday night. Police say that man, 34-year-old Blue Point resident Justin Mallany, appeared “confused” and couldn’t locate the appropriate paperwork. Police then found an ignition interlock device on Mullany’s car which has been installed after a prior DWI conviction. A driver with an interlock device must blow into the piece of equipment and pass a breath test before the care will start. Mallany told police he was swerving because he was trying to blow into the interlock device. He was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drug.

Woman Arrested for Texting while Driving

Laura McMorrough, a 30-year-old Hicksville woman, was arrested Thursday for texting while driving under the influence of alcohol after she crashed her car on the Bethpage State Parkway in Plainedge. McMorrough was driving her Toyota Camary southbound when she drove off the parkway and into the woods just before 3am Thursday morning. Police report that woman smelling of alcohol, having bloodshot eyes and failing sobriety tests. McMorrough told police she was a reading a text message on her cell phone when she lost control and veered onto the parkway shoulder. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and other traffic violations.
