The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Lakeview man for a Robbery that occurred on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 5:00 am in Hempstead. 6n
According to Detectives, Defendant Dion Mitchell, 57, of 330 Coventry Road South walked into 7-11 located at 531 Fulton Avenue. Once inside, the defendant approached a male employee, 20, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The victim, in fear for his life, complied and gave the defendant approximately $800.00 USC before fleeing the scene on foot.
After an extensive investigation Third Squad Detectives in conjunction with the Hempstead Investigations Unit located the defendant and placed him under arrest without incident. No injuries were reported.
Defendant Dion Mitchell is charged with Robbery 1 st Degree and Menacing 2 nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
