Major changes are coming for discount luxury shoppers in New York and on Long Island: Saks OFF 5TH has announced it will close the majority of its retail locations nationwide as its parent company, Saks Global, restructures under Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Out of roughly 70 Saks OFF 5TH stores across the U.S., only about a dozen will remain open long-term, while dozens more are being shuttered and will begin holding going-out-of-business and clearance sales beginning as early as Jan. 31.

Long Island & Nearby New York Stores Closing

Among the New York closures confirmed:

  • Deer Park, NY – This Long Island area store is scheduled to begin closing merchandise sales as part of the shutdowns.

  • Riverhead, NY – Scheduled to close February 2.

These represent two Long Island-area Saks OFF 5TH stores that will no longer operate once their closing sales wrap up.

Other New York Stores Affected

In addition to the Long Island locations above:

  • Eastchester, NY – Outside NYC, also slated for closure and clearance sales.

  • Greenburgh, NY – Another outlet closing Feb. 2.

Statewide, most Saks OFF 5TH stores will be winding down in the coming weeks as part of the company’s broader footprint reduction.

What’s Staying Open — For Now

Only about 12 Saks OFF 5TH stores nationwide are slated to remain open after the restructuring — including a few in New York — but the majority of Long Island and area outlets will still close.

Saks Global says these surviving locations will focus mainly on selling leftover inventory from its luxury brands such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus rather than acting as traditional off-price stores.

Tips for Shoppers

  • Clearance & Going-Out-of-Business Sales: Many affected stores have begun or will soon begin deep-discount markdowns.

  • Gift Cards & Returns: Existing gift cards will be accepted for a limited time after closing sales start; merchandise bought during closing markdowns is typically final sale.

  • Check Dates: Closure timing varies by location — shoppers should confirm exact dates with their local stores.

LongIsland.com will continue to update this list as more announcements are made and specific closing schedules are confirmed.
