The Major Case Squad reports the arrest of a Fresh Meadows man for a Grand Larceny that occurred on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 3:30 pm in Great Neck.
According to detectives, defendant Pitu Munteanu, 26, of 69-39 175th Street entered Phigora Luxury Watches located at 10 Grace Avenue and placed a Rolex Cosmograph in his jacket pocket. The defendant then proceeded to pass all points of purchase and exit the store without rendering payment.
After a thorough investigation, on Thursday, January 22, 2026 Major Case Squad and Electronic Squad detectives located defendant Munteanu in Brooklyn and placed him under arrest without incident. Subsequent to the investigation, the Rolex Cosmograph was recovered from inside of the defendant’s home.
Defendant Munteanu is being charged with Grand Larceny 3rd . He was issued an Appearance Tickets returnable to First District Court, Hempstead on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
Further investigation revealed defendant Munteanu is illegally in the United States and is subject to removal proceedings. US Immigration Customs Enforcement Agents (ICE) took custody of the defendant.
