Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian last night in East Northport.
Pierino Liberta was crossing the roadway on foot from west to east in front of 332 Larkfield Road when he was struck by a northbound 2020 Subaru Outback at approximately 10:50 p.m.
Liberta, 81, of Saint James, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The driver, Jack Sandin, 19, of Northport, was not injured.
The Subaru was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
