If you’re flying today, expect a bumpy ride to the runway. Ongoing snowfall across the metro region is triggering widespread flight disruptions at the area’s biggest new york airports, impacting Long Islanders heading out for weekend and Monday travel.
Flight delays and cancellations (as of 2:30 p.m. Sunday)
New York City Emergency Management reported the following totals for arriving and departing flights:

JFK Airport: 193 delays and 124 cancellations

LaGuardia Airport: 131 delays and 112 cancellations

Newark Airport: 251 delays and 14 cancellations
Delays were averaging around 49 minutes at Newark, while delay times varied at JFK and LaGuardia.
How much snow — and how long it lasts
Forecasters expected a widespread 3 to 5 inches across the region on Sunday, after NYC picked up 1 to 2 inches on Saturday. Snow began early Sunday and was expected to continue into Sunday night.
