The Second Squad reports the arrest of a Syosset man for an incident that occurred on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 10:45 p.m. in East Norwich.
According to detectives, Second precinct officers responded to the parking lot of 1029 Oyster Bay Road for a disturbance. Upon arrival, it was determined that the defendant, Syed Ibrahim Ali, 25, was involved in a disturbance with a 30-year-old female victim. The disturbance escalated and the defendant dragged the victim out of the restaurant and pinned her to the ground. The victim broke free and ran back into the restaurant and attempted to call 911.
The defendant followed the victim and took her cellphone and got back into his car. The victim entered the defendant’s vehicle in attempt to retrieve her phone and the defendant drove off westbound on Northern Boulevard with the victim in the car.
While in the vehicle the victim was able to text officers of a possible destination. After a thorough investigation New York City Police Department Highway One units were able to locate the defendant and victim physically fighting on the side of the road on Bartow Avenue, Bronx.
The defendant was placed under arrest and was transported to the Second precinct for processing. The victim and defendant had minor injuries but both refused medical attention at the scene.
Defendant Ali is charged with Criminal Contempt 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Assault 3rd Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing 2nd Degree and Aggravated Criminal Contempt. He will be arraigned on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
