Holidays over… Winter’s coming

Written by transportation  |  16. January 2002

BY RICH KNUTSON The holidays are finally over, decorations are being put away and 2001 has come to a close. No one, I mean no one, will ever forget the events of 2001. We move on, push on and persevere. Keep accessing the web links provided for service updates, they are your best way to keep abreast of the service changes. Speaking of service changes, there are a few... there is now a new "V" subway route - see NYC transit for details. More and more service is being provided to lower Manhattan whether it is access to or transportation to. I have listed here ALL the MTA links that you need in order to navigate the New York metropolitan area. Progress is moving right along with the HOV lane construction in Western Nassau. It seems that we have been bearing with this for a long time now; we have almost become immune to it. Some other changes... I have decided to make this site a regional site. In addition to the links I have already provided, I am also including the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to the list, which includes Kennedy and LaGuardia airports. This way you have a "one stop" shopping for ALL your transportation needs, whether here on the Island or the region. With winter coming, everyone needs to be aware of the road conditions. "Black Ice" is a leading cause of spinouts and fender benders. Heed the warnings and take mass transit if so advised. Everyone have a safe and healthy 2002. Be well. ---------- Rich Knutson is a born and bred Long Islander who understands the joys and frustration of getting around on Long Island.
