Suffolk County Police today arrested four employees for selling alcohol to minors at businesses in Copiague and North Amityville.
In response to community complaints, First Precinct Crime Section officers conducted an investigation into the sale of alcohol to minors at five businesses, four of which had violations. The following people were charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 1st Degree.
• Fnu Ram-Piara, 67, of Dix Hills, an employee of Valero gas station, located at 3359 Great Neck
Rd., North Amityville.
• Lisbeth Portolatin-Rodriguez, 25, of Copiague, an employee of R&J Grocery and Deli, located at
1708 Sunrise Highway, Copiague.
• Satish Khanija, 65, of Farmingdale, an employee of Brother’s Wines Liquors, located at 1300
Sunrise Highway, Copiague.
• Shamsher Jhamata, 66, of Elmont, an employee of Copiague Wine & Spirits, located at 1950
Great Neck Rd., Copiague.
All four were issued Field Appearance Tickets and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
