Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Two Vehicles on Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian last night in Lindenhurst.
 
Kenneth Cook attempted to cross Montauk Highway from south to north on foot, between South Wellwood and Washington Avenues, when he was struck by two vehicles at 7:39 p.m. Cook was first hit by an eastbound 2021 BMW X5, driven by Ronald Nunn, and then by a westbound 2014 Ford Explorer, driven by Emma Pollard.
 
Cook, 77, of Lindenhurst, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. Nunn, 73, of Babylon, and Pollard, 20, of Lindenhurst, were not injured. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
 
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
