Legislator Sam Gonzalez Secures Transportation for Suffolk County PAL Youth Program

Written by Long Island  |  06. January 2021

Through persistent and incessant efforts to better the lives of the youth within our community, Legislator Gonzalez was able to replace the Suffolk County Police Athletic League’s old bus, and further enhance their capabilities in building our community and providing leadership skills. By providing transportation to underprivileged youth involved with the program, the PAL helps expand participation in these crucial programs for youth and students.

Through negotiations with the Suffolk County Transportation Company, Legislator Gonzalez was proud and honored to deliver to Suffolk County Police Officer Ed Groce, a program supervisor for the PAL, a new bus to expand the opportunities provided to students through the program.

The PAL has been a recipient of the National Association of Counties Award for innovative programs and has been recently assisting Legislator Gonzalez in distributing food and other items to local senior citizens.

“The Police Athletic League remains a proud hallmark and effective program in our community, helping distribute food to senior citizens and expanding the opportunities provided to the youth within our community. I am proud to help in any way possible,” said Legislator Gonzalez.

“The donation of this bus will provide PAL with the ability to provide transportation to events and activities that children and teens who otherwise would be unable to participate in our programs,” Suffolk County Police Officer Ed Groce said. “We are extremely thankful to Legislator Gonzalez for his efforts, which enable us to continue to grow our program and reach more young people.”

Legislator Gonzalez looks forward to the continued impact of the SC PAL and the incredible work of those who are involved.
