My husband and I came here for dinner the other night and it was very good. I choose Vitaies Mussel Pot for my first course, grilled marinated cedar river farms flat iron steak for the second course and for dessert I had the cappuccino mousse and mixed berry shortcake. The entire meal was very delicious. My husband ordered the Pan roasted Berkshire pork chop and said it was not bad.

I really like the wine bar here at Vitae. The food is good but you will not find another wine bar that is as nice as this one. There are so many different wines that it is truly amazing.

My husband and I just happened to come on the night when Calypso Bob was the entertainer. We had a wonderful evening. Everything was perfect, elegant, and romantic.

I pay attention to the weekly specials that give you the chance to try something new and appetizing. The red pepper sofrito marinated French chicken breast was truly mouth watering.

I loved the entire experience. The staff go out of their way to ensure that you are enjoying your meal. The chef even came out and asked if we were enjoying our meal. Perfect. Highly recommend.

I came from out town to have a business meeting. We choose Vitae for the meeting. We were very pleased with the experience. The staff did very well serving all of us exactly what we ordered, which was bit crazy for some of us. Loved the wine bar.

Best steal in town

Fine dining is one of the things which Long Island is most famous for. When friends come visit us, we tell them to try a dozen different restaurants, but if they are going to pick just one ... Vitae should be it. We've come here with a lot of visitors, and they have -always- mentioned it again after they get home as something they are going to miss until the next time they happen to be in the area. Vitae is also a steal, I'd like to add. Expect fine dining at -reasonable- prices. No, I don't mean you're going to get an amazing meal for $10-15, but it's not going to run you $50 either if you play your cards right. My bill for myself and my husband is usually around $50-60 total for both of us.

If you come to Vitae (which you absolutely should), I highly recommend that you come during the "Sunset Dinner" hour. Well, hours. It happens between 4-6 each day, so that's not much of a window. I have to rush to do that after work. Thankfully they do it on Saturdays and Sundays too. That's when you can get the $25/person three course meal deal. I start out with the meatballs, follow up with the pasta dish, and finish with the sorbet.

Three Course Win!

Three Course Win!

For $25, you can get an amazing three course meal here! Other fine dining restaurants on the island will only give you the main course for that amount of money, and leave it up to you to fork out another $20 for an appetizer and a dessert, so believe me when I tell you that this is an amazingly good deal, because the food is top shelf! Here is what I like to get when I come in here: The mussel pot to open up. So good! The Scottish Salmon. It comes with mushrooms and some kind of clam sauce and some other tasty ingredients. I can't remember all the details off the top of my head, but the combination is outstanding. The "falling down" cake, which is indescribably heavenly. That costs $3 extra, but trust me, it's so worth it. I'd pay $6 extra for it! You will leave here with a completely reasonable bill. I eat here once a month to reward myself for another month of business, and it is one of the best things I do for myself.

Great salads!

Great salads!

I recently enjoyed the best salad I can remember in years here at the Vitae. There was lettuce (well, duh), pear, some kind of nuts, onion, some other veggies in there, I can’t remember all of it, some kind of Italian dressing with parmesan cheese in it, and bacon. The combination of flavors was really striking – and I probably could be satisfied with nothing but a salad alone coming in here, which is perfect since I’m on a diet. I do recommend you try some of their other entrees though, because you really can’t go wrong and there are so many delicious options here.

A proper wine bar

I've been to lots of places that claim to be wine bars, but a lot of them don't stock anything you wouldn't find at any other typical restaurant or bar. The selection at Vitae is genuinely extensive and you'll find a few unique and surprising offerings you won't be able to get just anywhere. The wines are well aged and well priced. There's nothing bad I can say about any other aspect of Vitae either. It's very cozy, elegant and refined, and the food is awesome. I usually get the filet mignon, which is almost $40 but totally worth it. Dessert is great but I'm generally full before I get to it. The service is the best; they check up on you regularly to make sure you're good, but not so often it's irritable. The owner comes out to talk to patrons pretty regularly. There's a piano and a guy who plays and sings old tunes. It's all very pleasant and sophisticated.

Very impressive Restaurant and I simply loved the elegant dining. I must say the Berkshire Pork Chops were incredible, my hats off to the chief. I can't wait to visit again and try those Baby Back Ribs.
