Multiple emergency agencies responded to a waterfront residence in Wantagh, NY at approximately 3 p.m. on Thursday afternoon to extinguish a boat anchored at the property that was engulfed in flames, reports say.

A thick plume of black smoke from the home – located in the vicinity of Riverside Drive and Hemlock Place – was visible from miles away, as per a video that was posted to Twitter that same day.

“If you’re in the Bellmore area & see this cloud of smoke, it’s not a house fire but a boat fire,” the tweet read.

In addition to local fire departments, the agencies that responded to the blaze included the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the Coast Guard, and Nassau County hazardous material teams.

The cause of the fire is currently not known, nor if it resulted in any injuries.
