Police Seeking for Hit-and-Run Driver Who Struck Rabbi in West Hempstead

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle accident, involving a pedestrian, that occurred in West Hempstead on Monday, 12/12/16 at 7:35 P.M.

West Hempstead, NY - December 13, 2016 - Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle accident, involving a pedestrian, that occurred in West Hempstead on Monday, 12/12/16 at 7:35 P.M.

According to detectives, a white Dodge Ram pick-up truck was traveling southbound on Hempstead Ave., when it struck victim Rabbi Jordon Kelemer, 70, of West Hempstead, who was attempting to cross from west to east in front of the Young Israel Jewish Center located at 630 Hempstead Ave.  The vehicle, possibly early 2000 with driver side front end damage, left the scene of the accident.  The victim was found by a passerby. 

Hatzalah Ambulance Corps of Western Nassau transported the victim, who sustained a head injury, to a local hospital where he is listed in serious but stable condition.
