Garden City, NY - December 8, 2016 - Lord & Taylor Garden City is teaming up with Rhonda Klch and the Equity First Foundation to assist with its annual “Holiday Dream” fundraising event to provide holiday gifts to Long Island families in need.

Lord & Taylor Garden City will be hosting a special dropbox and fundraising shopping event on Tuesday, December 13 at its Garden City flagship location, 1200 Franklin Avenue, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. where attendees can enjoy food, refreshments and receive up to 30 percent off selected merchandise. Guests can also enter to win raffle prizes including a fragrance basket and VIP Ladies and Guys Day Out certificates.

Holiday Dream was created to provide cheer to children from birth to age 18 who have parents or guardians that cannot otherwise provide holiday gifts. In 2014, the Holiday Dream event helped 167 families with gifts for the holiday season, and last year, the event grew to help 250 families. Local families from Miller Place, Mount Sinai, Selden, Medford, Coram, Port Jefferson, and Port Jefferson Station receive holiday gifts. This year’s goal is to service over 250 families.

Each year, Rhonda has worked diligently to help families in need as she believes that many people are not aware of the daily struggles that some Long Islanders face.

“Financial hardship does not discriminate,” said Klch, founder and President/CEO of Equity First, LLC. “Professionally I work with families who are in financial distress and every year I work with a new batch of families who are struggling since they chose to give their children a joyous holiday season. I feel like society helped us get some of these people to where they are now so I feel society should help them pick up the pieces as well; it is a community effort. As a Long Island 501(c)3, we know the financial burden of caring for a sick child, supporting a single parent household, paying for medications and keeping the lights on – we are a volunteer organization and 100 percent of items and donations go directly to support the families in our program.”

Guests attending the event will be treated to light refreshments and drinks at Sarabeth’s Restaurant located on the second floor of the store before receiving VIP cards allowing them discounts on store merchandise. Attendees may also bring gifts with them to donate at the event or donate funds directly online at www.equityfirstfoundation.org.
