Smithtown, NY - November 27, 2013 - Ahead of Thanksgiving Day, legislator John M. Kennedy, Jr., Minority Leader of the Suffolk County Legislature (12th LD), and Tom the Turkey, also from the 12th Legislative District, visited the boys and girls of the Building Blocks Preschool to help the children celebrate and learn about the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

Earlier this year, Legislator Kennedy visited the preschool to talk to the children about government, Election Day and what a Legislator does. At that visit the boys and girls held their very own election choosing Mr. Shakes as their school mascot.

“Today was a terrific time; all the boys and girls performed wonderfully and made Tom the Turkey feel at ease on his visit away from his home at Hoyt Farm in Smithtown. These children are our future and it is certainly a bright future with the performance put on today,” said Legislator Kennedy. Legislator Kennedy also would like to thank Hoyt Farm, the Town of Smithtown and their excellent animal preserve program for allowing Tom to visit with the children. The Hoyt Farm animal program is home to Tom and other animals and is open to the public.
