North Bellport Man Arrested for Attacking Victim at East Patchogue Deli

Suffolk County Police today arrested a man that assaulted another man victim in East Patchogue deli last month.

East Patchogue, NY - November 28th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a man that assaulted another man victim in East Patchogue deli last month.
 
Melvin Jose Martinez Velasquez and a male patron got into an argument at Plaza La Familia, located at 350 East Main St., on October 23, 2013 at approximately 9 p.m.  Martinez Velasquez struck the victim with his hands and feet and then stabbed him with an unknown object.
 
Fifth Squad detectives conducted an investigation and at approximately 3 p.m., Martinez Velasquez surrendered at the Fifth Precinct, located at 125 Waverly Ave., Patchogue.  Martinez Velasquez, 24, of North Bellport, was charged with Assault 2nd degree and will be held overnight at the Fifth Precinct.  He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on November 28.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
