The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow and freezing rain...which is in effect from 3 PM Tuesday to 2 am EST Wednesday. * Locations...New York City...Nassau and western Suffolk County...as well as Union...Essex and Hudson counties... * hazard types...snow and freezing rain. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches...along with a trace to a few hundredths of an inch of ice. * Temperatures...starting in the mid to upper 20s Tuesday afternoon...then slowly rising into the lower 30s to mid 30s late Tuesday night. * Timing...snow develops late Tuesday afternoon...then mixes with sleet and freezing rain Tuesday evening before changing to freezing rain by midnight...then to plain rain late at night. * Impacts...snow covered surfaces...coated with ice...will make traveling difficult at times. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Holbrook Man Arrested for Breaking Into Multiple Vehicles in Stony Brook

Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for stealing items from multiple cars in Stony Brook this morning.

Stony Brook, NY - November 28th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for stealing items from multiple cars in Stony Brook this morning.
 
Paul Lewis entered four unlocked vehicles located at Barker Drive and Barnwell Drive between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. and stole items including electronics and jewelry.
 
An alert resident called 911 and Officers Mark Grubbs and Todd Bradshaw tracked Lewis to 58 Barker Drive, Stony Brook, where he was staying with friends. Residents of the house turned over numerous stolen items to the officers. He was arrested at 10:45 a.m.
 
Lewis, 20, of Holbrook, was charged with four counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. Lewis is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on November 29.
 
Anyone with additional information, or believes they may have been a victim and may be able to identify their recovered property, should contact the Sixth Precinct Crime Section at 631-854-8626.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
