Huntington, NY - November 25, 2013 - Members of the Men's and Ladies, Ancient Order of Hibernians raised over $1,000 to help Karen Labarbaria, a fellow Hibernian member who was thrown from her motorcycle after a car crashed into her. Karen suffered severe life threatening injuries including the loss of her leg. The motto of the Order of Ancient Hibernians is Order is Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity. Friendship shall consist of helping one another and in assisting each other to the best of our power. Unity, in combining together for mutual support in sickness and distress and Christian Charity among its members by raising or supporting a fund of money for maintaining the aged, sick, blind and infirm members, for the advancement of the principles of Irish nationality, for the legitimate expenses of the Order, and for no other purpose whatsoever.

Andrew Brady, President, summed it up when he said, "This is what we are about, please tell Karen we are here for her."

Kathy Genovese, added "I am proud to be a member of the LAOH. Most people may not know that the Irish Immigrant knew hunger as few others ever did. The amount of people who are hungry and without food right here in Huntington is staggering. One of our major efforts is to help our local food pantries. Genovese added, "We have food drives at local supermarkets. While shopping please buy a little extra and put it in our box. Your help goes along.
