Person Found Dead Following Garage Fire in Medford, SCPD Investigating

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a person who was found following a garage fire at a home in Medford early this morning.

Medford, NY - November 16, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a person who was found following a garage fire at a home in Medford early this morning.

Fifth Precinct patrol officers responded to 110 Maple St. after a 911 caller reported a fire in the garage of the home, which is vacant, at 1:57 a.m. Members of the Medford Fire Department extinguished the fire and the body of a person was found inside a car in the garage.

The body was transported to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to determine the identity of the victim.

Preliminary investigation has determined the cause of the fire to be non-criminal in nature.

The investigation is continuing.
