Farmingdale Man Arrested for East Garden City Grand Larceny

East Garden City, NY - November 14th, 2014 - The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Farmingdale man for Grand Larceny that occurred in East Garden City on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 10:50 pm.

According to detectives, David L. Mejias, 44, of Puritan Lane entered into the 35 year old female victim’s Mitchell Field Way apartment and removed a Louis Vuitton pocket book that was on a counter top without permission. Mejias then demanded to know the location of a bangle bracelet that was kept in the bedroom. He pushed past the victim and removed the bracelet while refusing to leave. The victim called 911 and requested the police. Mejias was able to leave before the Third Precinct Police Officers arrived.

An investigation led Third Precinct Police to his residence at which time he was placed into police custody. The items taken from the victim’s apartment were recovered at the defendant’s house. There were no injuries reported.

David L. Mejias is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, November 14, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
