New York, NY - November 13th, 2013 - There are six federal case consolidations in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia for as many major mesh manufacturers, and bellwether trials have been scheduled for most of them, according to court documents. The Rottenstein Law Group LLP, which represents clients in vaginal mesh lawsuits, notes that the next trial scheduled, which involves C.R. Bard, is coming up on Dec. 3.

There are other bellwether trials scheduled as well, according to court documents*:

●    Lewis, et al. v. Johnson & Johnson (Ethicon) (2:12-cv-04301): Feb. 10, 2014.
●    Fawcett, et al. v. Boston Scientific Corp. (2:12-cv-07497): March 10, 2014.
●    American Medical Systems: April 14, 2014.
●    Huskey, et al. v. Ethicon, Inc. (2:12-cv-05201): June 23, 2014.

Bellwether trials for the Coloplast and Cook Medical multidistrict litigations were not yet scheduled at press time.

Women are filing vaginal mesh lawsuits alleging they suffered from serious, life-altering side effects such as pain, discomfort and device erosion, according to court documents. The products were designed to allow doctors to treat pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence.

Bard, AMS (Endo), Coloplast, Cook Medical and Boston Scientific are major mesh manufacturers in federal consolidations in West Virginia who are considering settling tens of thousands of vaginal mesh lawsuits, according to a Sept. 30 Bloomberg article. Ethicon is reportedly not a participant in the talks, the article said.
