Nassau County PD: Two Men Nabbed for Attempted Robbery in Wantagh

Wantagh, NY - November 11th, 2013 - Seventh Squad detectives report the arrest of two Hempstead men for an Attempted Robbery that occurred on November 10, 2013 at 5:10 am in Wantagh.

According to detectives, while at his place of business, 7 Eleven, 3382 Park Avenue, the 69 year old male victim, while outside shaking out the stores runner rug, was approached by Shamar Parker, 25, of 63 Martin Luther King Drive, who was armed with a knife and Elijah Coleman, 23, of 16 Revere Court, who was armed with a bat.  After refusing their demands to enter the store, Parker stabbed the victim under his chin and slashed him across the face with the knife. Both Parker and Coleman were then observed fleeing on foot northbound on Beech Street.

Responding officers observed the described subjects sitting in a vehicle in front of 1897 Beech Street. Upon approaching the vehicle, Parker quickly exited the car and fled northbound on Beech Street. Coleman, who remained in the vehicle, was placed under arrest without incident.

After establishing a perimeter of the surrounding area and conducting a search, Parker was found at 8:13 am hiding under a bush in the rear yard of 3480 Roxbury Avenue, Wantagh and was placed under arrest without incident.

The victim, who sustained serious facial lacerations, was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

Parker and Coleman are both charged with Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, Attempted Robbery 2nd Degree, and two (2) counts of Assault 2nd Degree.

Additionally, Parker is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree and Coleman, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. Both will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 11/11/2013.
