"Heat Advisory" ...Heat advisory remains in effect from noon to 8 PM EDT Monday... * heat index values...around 100 due to temperatures near 90... and dewpoints in the lower 70s. * Timing...highest heat indices Monday afternoon. * Impacts...the combination of the heat and humidity will increase the risk for heat related health issues...especially for the elderly...those with chronic health problems such as lung and heart disease...those working outdoors...and other heat sensitive groups of people. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A heat advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 100 to 104 degrees for two consecutive hours. To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. NCPD Crime Stoppers: Two Men Wanted for Attempted Robbery in Uniondale

Uniondale, NY - November 9th, 2013 - The First Squad reports the details of a Robbery which occurred on Saturday, November 09, 2013 at 12:05 A.M. in Uniondale.
 
According to detectives, a male victim, 24, walking northbound on Uniondale Avenue at the intersection of Macon Place was approached from behind by two males.  One of the males struck the victim with a branch while the other attempted to go through his pockets.  The victim fought off the suspects and ran westbound on Macon Place.  The suspects fled on foot southbound on Amsterdam Avenue.  No property was taken.  The victim suffered a small laceration and declined medical assistance at the scene.  The suspects are described as male blacks in their twenties, one 5’ 8” tall, 200 lbs wearing black clothes and a blue wool hat, the other 5’ 6” tall, 150 lbs. wearing a black jacket.
