Long Island, NY - November 2, 2015 - Buses will replace train service between Valley Stream Station and Long Beach Station over two consecutive weekends in November so that the Long Island Rail Road can carry out switch replacement work along the Long Beach Branch.

The first outage is scheduled for this coming weekend, Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8 when bus service will replace trains from 12:01 a.m. on Saturday until 12:15 p.m. on Sunday. The following weekend, Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15 buses will again replace trains, this time from 12:01 a.m. Saturday until 12:28 a.m. on Monday, a full 48 hours.

On both weekends, Lynbrook customers will have the option of using regularly scheduled Babylon Branch trains for travel to/from Jamaica and Penn Station.

Eastbound

Customers will travel by train as far as Valley Stream and board buses for stations Lynbrook through Long Beach experiencing up to 28 minutes additional travel time.

Westbound

Customers will board buses at Long Beach through Lynbrook up to one hour and six minutes later than normal for Valley Stream where train service will resume. They should expect up to 28 minutes of additional travel time.
