New York, NY - October 21, 2015 - A limited number of tickets have been made available for the 2015 Joe Lapchick Character Awards luncheon and ceremony Friday November 20 honoring Duke Hall of Fame basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski and Lucille Kyvallos, the legendary women’s coach at Queens College.

Krzyzewski, the only Division I men’s coach with 1,000 victories and who has led the Blue Devils to five national championships and Kyvallos, who led Queens College to the national championship game in 1973, will be honored that night during the 2K Classic, benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project at Madison Square Garden.

Kryyzewski’s 2015-16 team will be playing in the 2K Classic along with Wisconsin, Georgetown, VCU. First game tipoff is 5 pm.

The award is named for the Naismith Hall of Fame coach and is presented by a group that includes Joe Lapchick biographer and former player Gus Alfieri. It recognizes those who have shown the character traits of Lapchick, who coached at St. John's and with the New York Knicks.

Tickets for the luncheon and ceremony beginning at 12 noon are priced at $150.00 and post event reception passes are $35.00. Both are available by visiting the Lapchick Awards website.

The Awards presentation and luncheon will be held at the Wyndham New Yorker’s Grand Ballroom, 481 8th Avenue, New York, NY 10001.

About the Joe Lapchick Character Awards
Founded in 2008, The Joe Lapchick Character Foundation, and its annual awards luncheon, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, were conceived by former St. John’s player and longtime high school coach Gus Alfieri. Author of the book “Lapchick: The Life of a Legendary Player and Coach in the Glory Days of Basketball,”  Alfieri wanted to preserve and celebrate  the legacy of Lapchick, a Hall of Fame player and coach for 30 years; 20 at St. John’s University and 10 more with the New York Knicks.
