New York, NY - October 24th, 2013 - Five of six major vaginal mesh manufacturers are reportedly in mass settlement talks. Mesh law firm Rottenstein Law Group LLP actively provides vaginal mesh lawsuit settlement updates on its website and discusses the impact of a mass settlement on those who have filed or plan to file lawsuits against those mesh companies.

C.R. Bard, Endo Health Solutions (American Medical Systems), Boston Scientific Corp., Coloplast and Cook Medical were said to be involved in the talks, according to Bloomberg. Johnson & Johnson, whose Ethicon unit makes mesh products, is not involved, the article said. The value of the settlement was not available, but so far in 2013 Endo has already paid out more than $50 million in vaginal mesh settlements. The companies are looking to resolve more than 30,000 lawsuits nationwide, according to the article.

“There are several thousand plaintiffs for whom a mass settlement would bring resolution—and much sooner than a trial for individual lawsuits,” said Rochelle Rottenstein, principal of the Rottenstein Law Group LLP. “Another benefit of a settlement is not purely financial: The ability to focus on one’s health versus investing one’s time and energy into a trial. What we hope is that the settlement offers will be fair to the plaintiffs.”

Women are filing transvaginal mesh lawsuits alleging they suffered from adverse side effects such as pain and discomfort, in addition to erosion, according to court documents.* Vaginal mesh products were designed to enable doctors to treat pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence.

The Rottenstein Law Group LLP encourages those who believe they have suffered from the alleged side effects of their vaginal mesh implants to visit the firm’s FAQ page to learn about vaginal mesh compensation and settlements and lawsuits.
