Pedestrian Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash in Selden

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Selden last night.

Update - October 24th, 2013 @ 3PM: Timothy Blake, 53, of 7 Barbara Lane, Medford, has been identified as the pedestrian killed in the motor vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 83 and Route 25 in Selden on October 23.

Selden, NY - October 24th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Selden last night.

An unknown male, between 55 and 60 years old, was in the middle of the roadway, crossing County Road 83 in Selden, when he was struck by a 2012 Nissan, driven by Melanie Purcell of Port Jefferson Station, who was traveling northbound on County Road 83.
 
The pedestrian was transported via Selden Fire Department Ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Nissan was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
