NCPD: Elmont Man Charged with Assault, Resisting Arrest

Elmont, NY - October 22nd, 2013 -  The Fourth Squad reports the Arrest of an Elmont man that occurred at his residence on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 12:35 A.M.

According to detectives, Fourth Precinct police officers responded to the report of a disturbance between two males at 179 109th Avenue. When officers attempted to investigate Damian Pimentel, age 22 of the same address who was not part of the disturbance became uncooperative shoving one officer causing him to fall backwards striking his head on a chair. As police attempted to place the defendant into custody he refused to be handcuffed flailing his arms and after a struggle Pimentel was apprehended. The injured officer was removed to an area hospital where he was treated and released for head, neck, back and shoulder pain.

The defendant was charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.
