Rockaway Beach, NY - October 20th, 2014 - PSEG Long Island President and COO David Daly was joined today by local and state leaders to celebrate the opening of the first PSEG Long Island customer service center in the Rockaways. The new service center provides area residents with a convenient way to personally engage with the utility, one-on-one, to discuss their account and obtain information on payment assistance and other additional programs and services.

“We strive to be a recognized, constant presence in the communities we serve,” said David Daly, president and COO, PSEG Long Island. “The opening of the first PSEG Long Island customer service center here is just one of the many steps we are taking to achieve that goal and to enhance the engagement we have with our customers in the Rockaways.”

The new walk-in facility officially opened its doors earlier this month. It is located at 68-20 Rockaway Beach Blvd. in Arverne and is open weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. It is one of 12 Customer Service Centers PSEG Long Island maintains across its service territory.

"In just a year since taking over electrical utilities on the Rockaway Peninsula, PSEG Long Island has already proven to be a responsive and proactive community partner in our recovery from Superstorm Sandy and our emergency preparedness for the future. They have demonstrated an exceptional capacity for customer service and coordination with local officials and our community. I extend my warmest welcome to them on the opening of their Rockaways customer service center and anticipate our continued close cooperation in the years to come," said Assemblyman Phillip Goldfeder.

"It is with much optimism that I welcome the dedicated, professional services of PSEG Long Island to Rockaway. It is my belief that PSEG Long Island has a long standing tradition of understanding the role it plays in affecting the quality of life of its customers and the critical service it provides. I look forward to working with PSEG Long Island for the benefit of the Rockaway residents," said Senator Joseph Addabbo.

"This center will make it e‎asier for many Rockaway residents to access their utility provider for important information and services," said Councilman Eric Ulrich. "PSEG Long Island is investing locally and I look forward to a continued partnership serving communities throughout the peninsula."

“Building strong ties to the community is just as important as expanding and maintaining a customer base,” said Council Member Donovan Richards. “The opening of the PSEG Long Island Customer Service Center in Arverne affirms that this utility company is one that truly values service to the public. I look forward to partnering with this entity in the future to deliver affordable, reliable and in the near future, renewable energy to the Rockaways.”

"I applaud PSEG Long Island for inserting a customer service center into a community that was devastated by Superstorm Sandy, just two years ago. PSEG Long Island is demonstrating its level of commitment to their customers and willingness to be accessible to the community,” said Senator James Sanders, Jr.

In addition to this new location, PSEG Long Island has upgraded its call center technology to answer customer calls more quickly and efficiently. The new interactive voice response automated telephone system features enhanced voice recognition programmed with 50 of the most popular topics and more than 1,000 common utility phrases.

Daly continued, “Combined, our customer service centers serve more than 500,000 customers a year. I’m excited about the addition of this center and to PSEG Long Island becoming more of a part of the fabric of the community here in the Rockaways.”
