Woodbury, NY - October 18, 2016 - On Sunday, November 6, hundreds of Long Island residents will gather to walk in memory of loved ones lost to lung cancer, honor survivors and support those who are currently facing a lung cancer diagnosis.

Walkers of all ages are welcome to participate. “This walk means everything to us,” says Stella Katsaros of Nassau County, N.Y., whose team, “Strides for Steve,” will be joining the event for the fifth year in a row. Stella and her family walk in memory of Steve Katsaros, her husband of 25 years, who passed away from lung cancer in 2013.

“When I’m there, I think about how many people have just been diagnosed with lung cancer and are scared,” says Katsaros. “I get to see people who are going through what I have gone through and it makes me sad, but also grateful that the money we’re walking to raise will continue to help families like us.”

Funds raised at the event will support CancerCare’s free, professional services provided to anyone affected by lung cancer. Awards are given to top individual and team fundraisers. Entry fees are a $40 minimum donation per adult (23 and older), $20 minimum donation per student (13-22) and $10 per child (12 and younger).
