Long Island Music Hall of Fame Inductees, Vince Giordano, and Garland Jeffreys will be Tom Needham’s guests this week on the Sounds of Film.

Stony Brook, NY - October 19, 2016 - Long Island Music Hall of Fame Inductees, Vince Giordano and Garland Jeffreys will be Tom Needham’s special guests this Thursday at 6 P.M. on the Sounds of Film on WUSB. 

Grammy-winner Vince Giordano is going be inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame along with Steve Vai, Big Daddy Kane, Garland Jeffreys, Carter Burwell, Charles Koppelman, Sandy Perlman, Jim Steinman and Santo & Johnny on November 3rd at the Space in Westbury.  Vince is a jazz musician and band leader who has worked extensively in film and television.  He has appeared onscreen and on the soundtrack for Gus Van Sandt’s Finding Forrester, Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator and Sam Mendes’ Revolutionary Road.  He has also worked a number of other soundtracks including Ghost World, The Savages, The Good Shepherd, Cafe Society and Boardwalk Empire.

Brooklyn’s Garland Jeffreys is a critically acclaimed singer and songwriter who performs rock, blues and soul music. He is a graduate of  Syracuse University where he met Lou Reed.  In 1969, he played guitar on John Cale’s Vintage Violence.  In 1973, he released his debut album Garland Jeffreys on Atlantic Records.  His second album, Ghost Writer, contained his popular single, “Wild in the Streets,” a song that has become an anthem for the skate community. Jeffreys was featured in the Martin Scorsese documentary The Soul of Man. Through the years, his music has been featured in many films including Radio Unnameable, Punk’s Not Dead and Times Square.

As part of WUSB’s Radiothon fundraiser, the Sounds of Film is also going to feature the movie music of Prince.  Warner Brothers has just released a Prince Movie Collection on Blu-ray which includes the Prince films Purple Rain, Under the Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge.  The program will feature two hours worth of Prince hits, remixes and rarities from these films.
