Mother of 2-Year-Old and 2-Month-Old Arrested on Leandra's Law in Miller Place

Miller Place, NY - October 17, 2016 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a woman for driving while intoxicated with children in her car in Miller Place last night.

A Good Samaritan called police after she noticed an apparently intoxicated woman putting her children in and out of her car, while illegally parked in a handicapped zone in front of Stop and Shop in Miller Place at 10:13 p.m. Officers stopped the Lincoln Navigator on Carlisle Road in Miller Place at 10:26 p.m. The woman, Holly Olsen, had two children ages two-years-old and two-months-old in her care.

Olsen, 24, of Sound Beach, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated With a Child Passenger 15 years old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree .

Olsen will be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on October 16.  

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
