"Flash Flood Watch" ...Flash Flood Watch in effect from midnight EDT tonight through Monday morning... The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a * Flash Flood Watch for portions of northeast New Jersey and southeast New York, including the following areas, in northeast New Jersey, eastern Bergen, eastern Essex, eastern Passaic, eastern Union, Hudson, western Bergen, western Essex, western Passaic, and western Union. In southeast New York, Bronx, Kings (brooklyn), New York (manhattan), northern Nassau, northern Queens, northwestern Suffolk, Orange, Richmond (staten island), Rockland, southern Nassau, southern Queens, southern Westchester, and southwestern Suffolk. * From midnight EDT tonight through Monday morning * an area of low pressure will develop along a frontal boundary to our south and pass just south and east of Long Island. Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches an hour are possible and may lead to flash flooding the New York City Metro and surrounding areas. Flash flooding will also be possible for portions of the lower Hudson Valley. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Mother of 2-Year-Old and 2-Month-Old Arrested on Leandra's Law in Miller Place

Suffolk County Police have arrested a woman for driving while intoxicated with children in her car in Miller Place last night.

At the time of the arrest the mother had had two children ages two-years-old and two-months-old in her care.

Miller Place, NY - October 17, 2016 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a woman for driving while intoxicated with children in her car in Miller Place last night.

A Good Samaritan called police after she noticed an apparently intoxicated woman putting her children in and out of her car, while illegally parked in a handicapped zone in front of Stop and Shop in Miller Place at 10:13 p.m. Officers stopped the Lincoln Navigator on Carlisle Road in Miller Place at 10:26 p.m. The woman, Holly Olsen, had two children ages two-years-old and two-months-old in her care.

Olsen, 24, of Sound Beach, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated With a Child Passenger 15 years old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree .

Olsen will be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on October 16.  

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
