Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Crash on Long Island Expressway After Hitting HOV Barrier Wall

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a man in Hauppauge this afternoon.

Hauppauge, NY - October 14, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a man in Hauppauge this afternoon.

Charles Clayton was operating his 2008 Honda motorcycle eastbound on the Long Island Expressway in heavy traffic when he lost control of his motorcycle, crashed into the HOV barrier wall and was thrown off the vehicle onto the roadway.

Clayton, 56, of Mastic, was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was being treated for multiple serious injuries.

The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check, and the investigation is continuing.
