Oyster Bay, NY - October 9, 2015 - MTA Long Island Rail Road is offering extra train service and a specially-priced travel package for seafood lovers heading to the 32nd Annual Oyster Festival in historic Oyster Bay, L.I. on Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18. The festival is Long Island’s largest waterfront event and its oyster-eating and oyster shucking contests are legendary. Culinary pros and volunteer chefs work side by side, cooking and serving dozens of unique oyster and clam dishes as well as other seafood treats. Plus, you will find traditional festival fare, a fun mixture of live entertainment, tall ships, top-notch artisans, pirate shows, midway rides, not to mention the world’s largest rubber duck.

Extra Train Service for the Oyster Festival
In addition to its regularly scheduled weekend Oyster Bay Branch service, the Railroad is running extra eastbound trains departing Jamaica Station at 11:52 a.m., 1:52 p.m. and 3:52 p.m. and extra westbound departures from Oyster Bay at 1:19 p.m., 3:19 p.m. and 7:19 p.m. Also, shuttle buses will also be available from Syosset Station, making the event accessible from the east on the Port Jefferson Branch.

Discounted Travel Package
The LIRR’s travel package includes discounted round-trip rail from Penn Station, vouchers for five free oysters on the half-shell for adults and free admission for kids to The Slide.
