New York, NY - October 9, 2014 - The New York Islanders and the American Red Cross are partnering for a blood drive at Nassau Coliseum on Thursday, October 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. As a special thank you, all presenting donors will receive a voucher for two tickets to an Islanders home game during the 2014-2015 regular season, a chance to win autographed Islanders memorabilia and more!

Help the Red Cross and the Long Island community be prepared to meet the diverse needs of patients by donating blood and helping to replenish the blood supply. Donors with all blood types are currently needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative.

“The Red Cross encourages Islanders fans to roll up their sleeves to give a gift that can help save a life,” said Kay Schwartz, Chief Executive Officer, American Red Cross Blood Services New York-Penn Region. “Blood can only come from generous volunteer donors. Eligible donors are encouraged to make an appointment now and help us serve patients in need.”

“We’re urging our fans to donate blood and give back to our Long Island community,” said Mike Bossy, Islanders VP of Corporate Partnership and Partnership Marketing. “The team is proud to join in such a great cause by rewarding donors with Islanders tickets. You never know when someone you love may be the one in need and Red Cross blood drives help ensure blood is available for patients wherever and whenever it is needed.”

The Red Cross blood drive will take place in the Lower Box Office of the Coliseum. Walk-ins are welcome, but donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment in advance by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or by visiting redcrossblood.org.

*Offers and items are non-transferable and are not redeemable for cash. Ticket vouchers are for select games only. (Please visit newyorkislanders.com/redcross for available games. Redeemable at the Coliseum Box Office ONLY. Tickets subject to availability.)
