Woodbury, NY - October 7th, 2013 - HorseAbility is pleased to announce the details for this year’s annual Gala which is scheduled for October 25 at 6:30 PM at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.HorseAbility.org. Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are available. Donations for auction items are appreciated.

HorseAbility was founded in 1993 by Kathleen (Katie) McGowan who witnessed a child with cerebral palsy benefit physically, and emotionally through the therapeutic use of her horse. HorseAbility is the only full year Premier Accredited Center on Long Island. Equine Facilitated Programs offered year round for participants with special needs; ranging in age from 2.5 years to senior citizens.

The HorseAbility Gala is titled “Honoring the Past…Building Our Future”. As a nonprofit organization celebrating 21 years of serving the community, we are proud to be launching our capital campaign to raise funds to renovate and expand our current facility. The night will consist of awards, cocktails, dinner and dancing featuring a silent and live auction, raffle prizes and casino games.

HorseAbility is proud to honor four community members as “Champions of Service”: Bryan Lazarus, Laura Sisti, Bill Griffin and Peg Leder MA-ATR. Awards will be presented to those that have made a difference in the success of HorseAbility. Those that have helped overcome obstacles and reach milestones at HorseAbility during the 2012-2013 year include riders, volunteers, employees as well as horses. All nominees are nominated by members of the HorseAbility community.

All proceeds from the gala will help HorseAbility to offer a wide range of Equine Facilitated Programs for children, adults, and families with special needs to promote the physical, psychological, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of its participants.
