UPDATE: Police Report Multiple Purse Snatching Incidents with Man on Bicycle in Hicksville

Update - October 6, 2016 - Second Squad detectives report the arrest of Jose Roberto Savala, 19, of Hicksville in connection with the incidents.

Savala was also responsible for an additional pedestrian robbery that occurred on Sunday, September 18, 2016 in front of 71 N. Broadway, Hicksville. During that incident Savala assaulted a 41 year old male and removed his backpack and wallet.

The defendant is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, two (2) counts of Robbery 3rd Degree, Assault 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 10/06/16.

Hicksville, NY - October 5, 2016 - The Second Squad reports the details of two Robberies which occurred on Monday, October 3, 2016 and Tuesday October 4, 2016 in Hicksville.

According to detectives, on Monday, October 3, at 7:00 p.m. a female victim, 63, while walking on Jerusalem Avenue in the vicinity of W. Marie Street was approached from behind by an unknown male in his twenties who was riding a bicycle.  The suspect forcibly grabbed the victim’s purse from her wrist before fleeing southbound on Jerusalem Avenue.  No injuries were reported.

On Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 3:40 p.m. a second female victim, 63, while walking on Jerusalem Avenue in the vicinity of W. Cherry Street was approached from behind by a male matching the same description riding a bicycle who forcibly grabbed her pocketbook from her shoulder before fleeing southbound on Jerusalem Avenue.  No injuries were reported.
