Albany, NY - October 3, 2013 - “This afternoon, LIPA trustees voted to approve the contract which turns over control of Long Island’s utility operations to PSEG, a major step forward in providing Long Island ratepayers with improved utility service while keeping rates low. I commend the board for approving a contract that will gradually give PSEG full authority over the utility’s daily operations, including budgeting, maintenance, storm preparedness and response, infrastructure improvements, and energy efficiency and renewable activities. As the anniversary of Superstorm Sandy approaches, it is fitting that Long Island ratepayers will have a utility system that puts them first, operated by a company with an award-winning record of performance during disasters.”
