Patchogue, NY - September 30, 2016 - State Supreme Court Justice William Condon today sentenced 33-year old Thomas LaMartina to 25 years in prison for killing a 65 year old man outside a Patchogue church in 2014, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.

LaMartina admitted during his guilty plea last month that he intended to seriously injure Nicholas McQueen when he hit McQueen on the head with a paving stone outside Emanuel Lutheran Church on East Main Street June 28, 2014.

Both men were homeless and waiting for the soup kitchen in the church to open.  LaMartina told homicide detectives that McQueen had made unwanted sexual advances which prompted the assault.
