Motorcyclist Killed in Bohemia Crash; Driver Arrested for DWAI Drugs

Bohemia, NY - September 28th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a Selden man for driving while ability impaired by drugs after his vehicle struck and killed a motorcyclist in Bohemia this morning.

Paul Porrini was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Express van westbound on Veterans Memorial Highway when he passed through a red light at the intersection of Johnson Avenue and his vehicle struck a motorcycle and three other vehicles at 7:15 a.m.

The motorcyclist, Christopher White, 44, of Medford, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. Four people in the three other vehicles were transported by local ambulances to Southside Hospital and Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Vehicular Crime Unit detectives charged Porrini, 55, of 16 Ocala Ct., Selden, with DWAI Drugs. He is being held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on September 29.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
