Long Island, NY - September 26th, 2013 - Summer Flounder (Fluke): Effective Tuesday, October 1, 2013 the summer flounder fishery will be closed in New York State.  This closure will remain in effective until further notice.

As of September 14, 2013 landing records show that  791,296 pounds of summer flounder were landed in New York State.  This number represents 94% of the annual quota of 842,605 pounds.  It is estimated that New York State fluke fishermen will meet this quota by the end of September.
